Resolving issues with company networks and firewalls

If a live broadcast originates from a corporate network, you may need to whitelist certain domains, IP ranges and/or ports. On this page you will find the necessary info about this.

This may also apply to the use of our web application, e.g. for remote interpretation or closed captioning. Exceptionally, corporate networks are so tightly secured that live streaming is restricted (in that case, it usually suffices to whitelist our domains '.clevercast.com' and '.rambla.be').

If you need to send a broadcast from a new location, we strongly recommend testing it thoroughly beforehand. If necessary, we are happy to provide a trial account for this purpose.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact our support team.

Domains

Clevercast requires the domains '*.clevercast.com' and '*.rambla.be' to be accessible.

Note: if you are embedding our player in a third party application, it also shouldn't block HTTPS requests to these domains.

IP Ranges

In order to broadcast to our streaming servers and/or use our web application you need access to the following IP ranges:

  • 83.149.89.32/27
  • 213.163.93.128/28
  • 46.249.59.32/27
  • 2001:1af8:3100:b090::0/64
  • 2a00:1630:74::0/48
  • 2a03:3f40:25::0/48

Note: we use global CDNs for live stream delivery. It is not possible to list all IP addresses of the global edge servers, used to deliver the stream to the player.

Ports

Web Application and Video Player

HTTPS (TCP 443) is required to access our web application and play live streams.

RTMP Broadcast

An RTMP broadcast to Clevercast uses port 1935.

If this port is blocked and you're unable to adjust firewall settings, you can try bypassing it by using port 80 (or 443). To do this, add the port number to the broadcast URL (contact our support team for more info). For a long term solution, we recommend adjusting your firewall to allow using port 1935.

SRT Broadcast

An SRT broadcast to Clevercast requires access to UDP ports 17000-22999.

Remote Interpretation and Closed Captioning

Using Clevercast for Remote Interpretation or Closed Captions (for both manual captioning and AI correction) requires access to UDP ports 30000-31999 (WebRTC). This is also needed when using the Management Room for RSI and/or captioning.

Other

For interpreters doing Remote Interpretation via Clevercast, the "OpenH264 Video Codec by Cisco" plugin must be available in their Firefox browser. This is installed and enabled by default, but some users disable it. See "about:addons" in Firefox (= Plug-ins menu on the left).
